A Neonatal Intensive Care nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who is accountable for the
delivery of quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Planning and coordinating care of the NICU babies medical and intra-operative care for all NICU patients in accordance with individual patient needs and physician plan of care. Applying and interpreting hospital policies and legal requirements of nursing practice guidelines. Participating in the monitoring of inventory control of supplies.
Ensuring the order, functionality, availability of supplies and equipment.
Maintaining an effective line of communication with the principal, physicians, ancillary staff, and visitors.
Participating in select patient care activities such as evaluating patients progress against patients care plan, also instructing, teaching and demonstrating to the parents the specialized care of the newborn. Participating in and collaborating with the Team Leader, in meeting the department's budgetary objectives.
Behaviorally supporting the philosophy, objectives and goals of hospital administration and its representatives.
The role of the neonatal intensive care nurse (NICU nurse) is to provide direct and specialized care for newborns needing close monitoring due to premature birth, birth defects, infection, or other medical conditions requiring surgery or therapy. Working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with doctors and other healthcare professionals, the NICU RNs assist in developing and implementing a plan of care for high-risk newborns requiring high-technology care, including ventilators, incubators, or other special equipment or surgery.
Requirements:
Minimum (2) or more years of NICU experience
An active RN License
NRP, BLS Certifications
